I'm Patrick Martell — a digital creator living and working in Newport, in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. I grew up in Colchester, Vermont, and the landscape here is unhurried and honest. That's the spirit I bring to the work: considered, warm, built to last.
By day I work at MAS, Inc. My path into this craft wasn't a straight line. I came to web and social work the way a lot of makers come to their trade — by noticing the gap between how good something could be and how it usually gets done, and wanting to close it. I care about the small things: the rhythm of a page, the weight of a word, the way a site feels in the hand on a phone in a parking lot.
I work with people who care about their work as much as I care about mine — makers, small businesses, and quiet brands that want a presence which feels like them, not like a template. Websites that load fast and read clean. Social that sounds like a person, not a feed.
When I'm not at the desk, I'm usually outside — on a back road, by water, or just watching the light move across the hills. It keeps the work honest.
